Job Description
Job Title: QC Operator
Department: Operations – Advanced Ceramics
Reports to: Production Manager (Advanced Ceramics)
SUMMARY
A QC Operator is responsible for inspecting and testing products to comply with company and customer requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive and check goods into inventory according to company procedures ensuring they meet the specification required for manufacture
- Establish and prepare mechanical, electrical, and optical test equipment and jigging in accordance with associated documentation to ensure accuracy of test and prevention of damage to goods
- Undertake testing of components and finished products, utilising appropriate test equipment and resources, and following approved Manufacturing drawings, interpreting recorded results to ensure they are fit for purpose and fully comply with the company’s and customer’s specifications
- Create and complete accurate structured test logs/reports ensuring all applicable data is collected and recorded as required
- Accurately receive items into inventory, noting and understanding the significance of inventory transactions and the wider impact they can have in the business, ready to go into stock
- Complete detailed quality documentation, including test reports and non- conformance reports, as required by operations management, and specified by external customers
- Maintain QC test equipment; performing calibration tasks as and when required, ensuring faults are reported to line management immediately.
- Report product faults and failures within the team and key stakeholders in a timely manner, providing relevant technical detail to aid their resolution.
- Plan workload in accordance with departmental priorities ensuring efficient use of equipment and resources in adherence to deadlines.
- Achieve and maintain IPC-A-610 inspection certification
- Contribute to continuous improvement through the identification, reporting and resolution of Non-Conformance.
- Maintain a safe working environment ensuring that all company and regulatory standards are achieved at all times
- Develop other skills in accordance with the skills matrix for the flexibility within the team.
QUALIFICATIONS
5 GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths and English
NC/BTEC in Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience in a quality control role is preferred
IPC-A-610 inspection qualified preferred
EXPERIENCE
Detailed experience of working in an ISO 9001 environment and knowledge of AS 9100 is desirable
Experience of using electrical test equipment is desirable
Experience of reading and understanding detailed drawings is essential
Previous experience of a SharePoint IT system and IFS or a similar ERP system is a benefit
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Computer literate (Word / Excel / Outlook)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Manage own workload with a proactive approach within a fast-paced environment
A keen eye for detail
